Paddy's Girl by Maxwell Spanx

Genre:
Romance

Synopsis:
During wartime, Ethel and Paddy are just trying to survive. On day she is distraught to find out that he has enlisted to defend his country. She struggles to adapt to life by herself. Suddenly it’s not just falling bombs she has to fear, but a lonely heart, with plenty of soldiers looking to score. Will Ethel always be Paddy's girl?

My Review:
First and foremost, Paddy's Girl is a romance story. It deals with the heartache that women go through when their loved ones go off to war. While this is set during World War II, Paddy's Girl is a universal story that could apply to any lovers during any war. I think this short story will speak most profoundly to those who have somehow experienced this type of turmoil.
